A workspace for the people who know the product

Manual Tools is an online manual creation and publishing service. Authors write their own instructions, organize them into topics, add images and videos, and publish a searchable guide or a PDF. The free plan makes room for a first manual; the paid plan adds more manuals, team authoring, private readers, versions, and translations.

Our product documentation is maintained under the Manual Tools name. It describes the writing and publishing workflow available in the service. You can see changes in the product updates and contact us through support.

Who writes and reviews a manual?

The author or organization publishing a manual supplies its content and decides when it is ready for readers. Manual Tools provides the authoring and hosting software. Authors should identify the product and version, credit the sources they use, and have the instructions reviewed by someone familiar with the product.

Instructions involving safety need a review appropriate to the product and its intended use. Publishing a manual through this service does not certify its accuracy or compliance.

A clear boundary between drafts and publication

Autosave keeps work in the draft. Publishing creates a release for readers, so later edits can be reviewed before another release replaces it. Revision history preserves earlier saves. Reader visibility and permission to index a manual in search engines are separate settings.

Private manuals require invited account access or a valid access key. Authors can export their work and keep complete backups with their uploaded media.
